Vertiver is a perennial rhizomatous grass with erect clums.
The roots yield an essential oil, which contains khusimol, vetiselinenol, eudesmol vetivone and veticerol. It is recognized as odour stabilizer and fixative. The oil is also mixed with tobacco, pan masala and soft drinks.
