Veliancode Jaram Nercha Festival




The Nercha Festival at Veliancode is celebrated in memory of a great Tangal (priest), who is believed to be the descendent of prophet Muhammad. It takes place at Veliancode Mosque in Malappuram District of Kerala.

An important function of this festival is recital of the Holy Koran at the Jaram (tomb), where the priest was buried, in the mosque. Also, a grand feast is held for the poor.

Large number of people from all over the state throngs here throughout the year and pays rich tribute to Tangal.
