Veerabadra Swamy Temple




Veerabadra Swamy Temple is located at Mylapore, Chennai District. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The deity Veerabadrar is in the form of handling a knife, shield, bow and arrow in his hands.

The specialty of the temple is that only in this temple is the Kalyana Utsavam celebrated for Lord Veerabadrar and the Goddess. The temple houses separate shrines for Devi Abayambal, Dhaksan, Arumuruga with his consorts, Goddess Durga, Anjaneyar and Lord Suryanarayana.

The sacred trees of the temple are Vanni and Arasa. The main festival is celebrated on Panguni Uthiram day. Other festivals like Surasamharam, Navratri, Shivratri, Adi Sankara Jayanti, Chitra Pournami, Maasi Magam and Aadi Pooram are also celebrated.
