Vedalai




Vedalai is a fishery coastal region between Kilakarai and Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram District of Tamil Nadu. This place lies close to Mandapam, coastal place connecting Rameswaram with the main land. The sea close to Vedalai was the main center for naval battles between Portuguese rulers and Arwi Muslims held during 1525 AD.

Dhanushkodi, the southern tip of Rameswaram Island, is 32 km away. Pamban is 9 km to the east. Gulf of Mannar Marine Biosphere Reserve, Kurusadai Islands and Adi Jagannatha Temple at Tirupullani are nearby.

Madurai Airport and Mandapam Railway Station are the nearest airport and railhead respectively.
