Varman Dynasty was a dominant power in
West Bengal and
Assam during the ancient times. This dynasty was established by a ruler named Pushyavarman around AD 350. The Varman kings are believed to have descended from the Yadava dynasty.
The most prominent ruler under the Varman dynasty was Bhaskar Varman, who was also the last of the Varman kings. Following his demise in AD 650, the dynasty came to a decline. The kingdom was taken over by the
Salasthamba Dynasty.
