Urdhva Dhanurasana




Urdhva Dhanurasana is a full backend process, which strengthens the arms, legs, abdomen and spine. This asana also stimulates the thyroid and pituitary glands.

Urdhva Dhanurasana's preparatory poses include Bhujangasana, Setu Bandha Sarvangasana, Urdhva Mukha Svanasana and Virasana. Subsequent poses are Ardha Matsyendrasana and Supta Padangusthasana.

'Urdhva Dhanurasana' is a Sanskrit word in which 'urdhva' means 'upward' and 'dhanu' stands for 'bow.' It is also referred as 'upward bow pose.'
