Upasaka Dashanga Sutra is a highly revered text in
Jainism. This text is also known by the name Uvasagdasao. It is a part of the collection of texts containing
Lord Mahavir’s teachings, collectively termed as Agam Sutras.
Upasaka Dashanga Sutra deals with the code of conduct to be followed by people not belonging to the religious order. Originally these laws were created for the ten lay followers of Lord Mahavir, who were known by the name Shravaks. The term Shravak is now used for the people belonging to the non-religious order.
