Tiruchuli




Tiruchuli, one of the 14 Shaiva centres in Tamil Nadu, is a small town situated on the banks of the Gundar River in Virudhunagar District. The sacred Bhuminathaswamy Temple makes this little known place popular. This enormous temple complex was constructed during the reign of Muthuramalinga Setupati. The presiding deity of the temple is known by the name Bhuminathar and the goddess is Thunaimalai Amman. Tiruchuli is located 40 km east of Virudhunagar town and about 45 km south of Madurai. Madurai Airport and Virudhunagar Junction Railway Station are the major access points. Tiruchuli is also well connected by road.
