Tiruchaaikadu Temple



Tiruchaaikadu Temple is located at Poompuhar, near Sirkazhi, in Nagapattinam District. It is a shaivite shrine, whose reference has been made in Akanaanooru and Natrinai of the Sangam period.

As per a local legend, Lord Indra and Airavatam worshipped here. Indra made an attempt to take the deity to his heavenly abode.

The temple is enshrined with the idols of Iyarpakai Nayanar, Surya, Indra and an image of Subramanya with a bow. The inscriptions from the Chola period can also be found here.

The temple offers worship services. Popular of the festivals celebrated here are Indira Vizha, Iyarpakai Nayanar Festival, Vinayaka Chathurthi and Navratri. Pallavaneeswaram Temple is nearby.
