Tipu's Palace

Also known as Lal Mahal

The ruins of Tipu's Palace can be found at Srirangapatna, 16 km north-east of Mysore. It is about 150 m away from the Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple.

This double-storeyed ornate structure, constructed in 1791, was the summer retreat of Tipu Sultan. The building was then used by the British as their secretariat till 1867, after the death of Tipu.

Tipu Sultan Museum, Narasimha Temple and Tombs of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan are other places worth visiting. Srirangapatna is on the Bangalore-Mysore highway.
