Tinospora Gulancha




Tinospora Gulancha is a large, glabrous deciduous climbing shrub, common in tropical areas, ascending up to an altitude of 300 m. The bark contains too much water, and is gray brown color.

The leaves are membranous and cordate. The flowers are small, greenish yellow. Tinosporide, Tinosporaside, Cordifolide, Cordifol, Heptaconsanol, and Clerodane furano diterpene are some of the major constituents of the plant.

Tinospora Gulancha is used as a tonic, vitalizer, and a medicine for diabetes and metabolic disorders. It also helps to reduce blood glucose level. In addition, it is useful in the treatment of acute dental infection, debility, dyspepsia and fevers.

It is also known as Indian Tinospora and Guduchi.
