Thondanur




Thondanur, a great Vaishnava pilgrim center, is located in Mandya District. It is belived that Acharya Ramanuja settled down here about 1000 years ago and propagated Vishisthadwaitha Siddhantha in Karnataka.

A historically important place, Thondanur is the site of Sri Nambinarayana Temple, Sri Krishna Temple and Sri Narasimha Temple. A beautiful lake and small man-made waterfalls and canals make it a great water sport attraction.

Thondanur is about 125 km from Bangalore and 45 km from Mysore. It is only about 30 minutes drive from Melkote. The nearest railway station is at Mandya.
