Thistle (Latin name, Eclipta prostrata) is an erect or prostrate that grows in the wild especially in the hills, up to an altitude of 6,000 ft. It is a much branched, roughly hairy, annual herb with sessile and lanceolate leaves and white flower heads, rooting at the nodes.
It is considered tonic and deobstruent in hepatic and splenic enlargements, and in skin diseases. Its juice is recognized as a medicine for catarrhal jaundice when mixed with other aromatics. The plant shows antihepatotoxic and anti-inflammatory properties.
