Thiruvattaaru Temple

The Thiruvattaaru temple is situated in Thiruvananthapuram District in Kerala. The temple can be reached by bus via the Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil route.

The deity of this temple is Lord Aadhikesavapperumal (Vishnu). He is seen in a reclining position called ‘Bhujanga sayanam’. Since the moon rises from the west, the deity faces west as if to give his blessings to ‘Chandra’, the moon god.

One of the major festivals celebrated in this temple is the festival of ‘teerthavaari’.
