Thiriyuzhichil

Thiriyuzhichil, a ritual art form, is performed by the Pulluva community. It is mostly popular in the districts of Kozhikode District, Thrissur District and Palakkad District. The ritual is performed in temples and shrines to alleviate the fear of snakes, to appease the snakes and to be blessed with offspring. In this ritual, the performer starts dancing holding a torch in his hand, accompanied by various musical instruments. Thiriyuzhichil is believed to win the favour of the queen of snakes.
