Thanthi Panai, also spelt as Tantipanai or Tanti Panai, is a pot drum commonly used by the tribes of Southern India.
The pot is made of clay, and a skin is stretched over it. A metal string can be found at the center of the skin. There is a small hole at the bottom, from where the string passes through a series of beads. A tuning peg is attached, which controls the melody of the music.
Thanthi Panai is based on an old instrument named Narakunda Panai.
