Tehnishan is a technique of metal inlaying. It is used for adorning articles made from metal, wood or stone.
Grooves corresponding to the required patterns are cut into the base material. Generally, the depth of these grooves must be about two-thirds of the diameter of the inlaying metal wire. The wires are set into the grooves and hammered down flat into the base. This technique requires soft metals like gold and silver for inlaying.
