Teff, one of the world's smallest cereal grains, is adapted to soil environments ranging from drought-prone to water-logged. It is only about 1/32 of an inch in diameter.
It is rich in calcium, boron, copper, phosphorus and zinc. Teff contains very little gluten, a mixture of protein. It is similar to Millet in nutrition and in cooking. Teff is used as an ingredient in home-brewed alcoholic drinks. It is also grown for livestock forage.
