Taro

Taro (Colocasia esculenta) is an herbaceous plant of tropical and sub-tropical regions. It requires well-drained soil for uniform growth of tubers, and warm humid climate.

Sree Rashmi and Sree Pallavi are two enhanced varieties of Taro. Its underground stem contains a large amount of starch. Calcium oxalate is seen in all parts of the plant hence it needs to be cooked well to destroy those acrid crystals.
