Taraporewala Aquarium

Taraporewala Aquarium is situated on Marine Drive, the picturesque C-shaped road located along the coast of Arabian Sea. This aquarium is one of the noted tourist spots in Mumbai.

Inaugurated in 1951 by the Dr Rajendra Prasad, the former president of India, Taraporewala Aquarium has built its reputation over the year by displaying some of the most exotic and rare specimens of marine life. These include both the fresh water and the sea fish. Also on the display are corals, worms, sea flower and sea horses. Apart from the aquatic creatures, a wide variety of elegant pearl jewelry and artistic shell products are showcased.

There are three large rooms housing the fish tanks. These tanks are sized according to their occupants, providing a non-congested view of each individual fish in its full splendor.

The aquarium is open daily, except on Mondays, between 10:00 to 19:00 hrs. On Sundays, it is open till 20:00 hrs.

Charni Road Railway Station on the Mumbai Suburban Railways is the nearest railhead.
