Tapan Dighi



Tapan Dighi is a big lake situated at Tapan in South Dinajpur District of West Bengal. Tapan is about 35 km north-west of Balurghat and 15 km south of Gangarampur.

The length of this lake is around 2 km and breadth is 1 km. One dilapidated mound, dating back to the period of Buddha, can be seen on the northern bank. According to a myth, King Laxman Sen dug Tapan Dighi with a view to offering Tarpana for his ancestors.
