Sweet Indrajao




Sweet Indrajao (Wrightia tinctoria) is a deciduous tree with light gray, scaly smooth bark. It is grown in the deciduous and scrub jungles of the peninsular India.

It produces white, fragrant flowers at terminal panicles. Propagation is by means of wind dispersal. Sweet Indrajao is used as a medicine to cure psoriasis and nonspecific dermatitis. The leaves possess antidandruff, astringent and anti-inflammatory properties, and are useful in curing various scalp and skin disorders including herpes.

It is also known as Stri kutaja, Hyamaraka and Hale.
