Svetasvatara Upanishad belongs to the Taittiriya school of
Yajurveda and holds a very high rank among the
Upanishads. It derives its name after Svetasvatara, the sage who taught it.
Svetasvatara Upanishad tries to reconcile the different philosophical and religious views of its time and advocates the unity of the souls and world in the one Supreme Reality. The Upanishad identifies
Lord Shiva as the creator of the world, its protector and guide. It lays emphasis on the omniscient and omnipotent personal ‘Isvara’, the manifested
Brahma, than
Brahman the Absolute, whose complete perfection does not admit of any change or evolution.
