Sumatinath

Sumatinath was the fifth Tirthankar among the 24 Jain Tirthankars. He was born to Megh Prabha, the king of Ayodhya, and Sumangala at Ayodhya. His original name was Sumati Kumar.

He attained omniscience under a Priyangu tree on the eleventh day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra. Sumatinath had around 90 disciples.

He attained Nirvana at Samet Sikhar on the fifth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra. Curlew is the emblem of Lord Sumatinath.
