Statue Junction




Statue Junction is the nerve center of Thiruvananthapuram, located between East Fort and Palayam. Originally known as Mavinmoodu, it later became famous as Statue. The name is derived from the famous statue of Diwan T Madhava Rayar, the then Diwan of the King Rama Varma of Travancore, standing at the center of this square. Statue houses numerous government offices, business and shopping centers of Thiruvananthapuram. A connecting point to various parts of the city, Statue is one of the busiest spots in Thiurvananthapuram. The foremost attractions include the Kerala Secretariat, the seat of administration of the state, District Treasury, Sreedhari Arya Vaidyasala, State Bank of Travancore, Accounts General Office (AG's Office), Cantonment Police Station, British Library, YMCA Trivandrum, Statue Post Office, SMSM Handicraft Emporium, Central Stadium and Press Club. St Peter's Jacobite Church and Mahaganapathy Temple in Punnen Road, positioned in the hustling and bustling part of the city, offer mental succor and tranquility to the visitors. An outlet of DC Books is a favorite haunt for incoming tourists who come in search of books. FoodWorld, close to Statue, is frequented by locals and tourists alike.
