State Archives of the West Bengal Government was established at
Kolkata, in 1909. It houses the East India Company's administrative records for 88 years from 1770 to 1858. There are some Persian and Bengali records dating from 1624, Dutch records relating to Chinsurah from 1702 to 1827 and Danish records on Serampore. Records of secretariat departments and records of the Crown period 1858-1947 and indices are also included.
