The St Xavier's College was established in 1964 as part of the Loyola institutions at
Sreekariyam. But it was shifted to
Thumba in 1965. The college is established and maintained by the Jesuit Missionaries of Kerala. The college was upgraded as a degree college in 1977. It offers degree courses in History, Physics, Economics, History, Malayalam, Mass Communication, and Chemistry. B.Sc Industrial Chemistry, sponsored by the UGC, is also offered. The college provides facilities for extra curricular activities such as NCC (army and navy), NSS, sports and games, union activities, associations of different departments, Christian student’s activities, and various clubs.
