Sree Venkataramana Temple

Sree Venkataramana Temple is an ancient shrine located at Thayyil, a seashore colony of GSB community in Kannur. It was built in the 17th century by Sri Venkatesh Bhat of Mangalore.

The temple enshrines the image of Lord Venkataramana with Laxmi Devi on the left and Bhoomi Devi on the right sides. Besides, the temple houses the beautiful idols of Lord Narasimha, Santhanagopala and Lord Krishna. The shila (stone) idols of Hanuman and Garuda are worth seeing.

Navratri is a major festival celebrated at the temple. During the festive occasion, devotees throng here from far-off places to seek blessings of Goddess Mahamaya and Lord Venkataramana. Other festivals held are Karthik Panchami, Lalaki Utsav, Akshaya Thritiya, Ranga Pooja on Vinayak Chathurthi and Dasami Dindi.

Sree Venkataramana Temple is less than half a kilometer from both Kannur Railway Station and Kannur Bus Station.
