Spectacled Caiman

Spectacled Caiman (Caiman crocodilus) is a common, meat-eating reptile that spends most of its time in water. It is yellowish-tan to olive-brown reptile with or without cross bands. It has a bony ridge around the eyes (that looks like a pair of eyeglasses) and a bony ridge above the eyes. There are about 75 long, sharp, conical teeth.

The crocodile prefers still water, but is also found in lowland wetlands, rivers, rain forests, and occasionally flooded savannas. It swims well, mainly using its tails to propel them through the water, and also using webbed feet.

Caimans usually hunt at night. Diet consists of fish, birds, turtles, reptiles, and mammals.
