Songs of Manipur

In addition to folk songs, other songs sung in Manipur are Thoubal Chongba, Gaur Padas, Dhob, Napi Pala, and Raslila.

Thoubal Chongba is a melodious song sung while the Thoubal Chongba dances are performed. The theme of the song is religious. Gaur Padas are sung to pay tribute to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Dhob is accompanied by a large cymbal known as Jhal. The devotional song of Napi Pala is sung by women. The song is accompanied by a small cymbal, called Mandira. Raslila songs are sung during raslila dance. Deep spirituality is depicted in the song.
