Started in 1997, Sindhar Institute of Gemology (SINGEM) is regarded as India’s first comprehensive institute on gemology. Located at
Kolkata, the institute offers international programs in the study of diamonds and gemstones. It also gives training for wax model settings, valuation of mounted jewelry, pearl stringing, jewelry appraisals, jewelry photography and computer-aided jewelry designing.
It has another institute at Mumbai.
