Shri Betal Temple




Shri Betal Temple, one of the oldest temples in Kerala, is situated at Cherai, Ernakulam District. It belongs to the gowda Saraswat Brahmin community of Goa who migrated to Vypeen Island in around 1550. The temple is on the northern side of the Azheekkal Shri Varaha Devaswom.

The Forane church of Lady of Snow, Lakshminarayana Raghupati Temple, Cherai beach and Pallippuram Fort are nearby tourist destinations.

By road, many buses ply along Vypeen – Ernakulam route. Vypeen is connected by ferry with Fort Kochi and Ernakulam. The nearest airport is at Kochi.
