Shiva Sutras is an ancient text associated with Kashmir Shaivism. Sage Vasugupta is believed to have written it around the eighth century AD, after it revealed itself to him in a dream.
Shiva-Sutras is divided into three sections. It is the basic text that contains the teachings and practices of Kashmir Shaivism. Shiva-Sutras mentions the yogic art of seeing the ultimate reality, Lord Shiva, both within oneself and in the outer world.
