Shitalaa Saatam




Shitalaa Saatam is a festival celebrated on the seventh day of the Hindu month of Shravan (July-August). The festival is dedicated to Goddess Sitala. On this day, the devotees visit the temple dedicated to the goddess.

The visiting devotees offer their worship and observe the rituals associated with the event. Following the rites, the devotees follow a peculiar custom. They eat the food which is prepared a day before.

The rituals and rites of the festival are accompanied by celebrations and festivities. This festival is more popular in the rural areas, where it is a big event.
