Shiriyar River




A west-flowing river, Shiriyar is the main fresh water source of Kasargod District in Kerala. It has its origin on the Ankekundi hill ranges in Karnataka. Its length is about 67 km. In its course, it joins with the Kumbala Lake before draining into the Arabian Sea. Kallanje Thodu, Kanyana Thodu, Eramathihole and Kumbla are the major tributaries of this river. Fort of Adka, also known as Adkada Kote, lies on the banks of the Shiriyar River.
