Shikra

Shikra (Accipiter badius) is an ashy gray color bird with broad bands on its tail. The size differs from 30 to 36 cm. Main flight feathers are dark gray, tipped with black, with white bases on the inner webs, and barred with dark brown or black. The under-tail thighs are white. The tail is gray, with five dark bars and a dark tip.

The bird is widely found in the wooded areas of Haryana. It mainly feeds on lizards. Occasionally it also consumes small birds, small mammals and large insects.
