Sheetalnath




Sheetalnath is the tenth Tirthankar among the 24 Jain Tirthankars. He was born to Dridharatha and Sunanda on the twelfth day of the dark half of the month Magh at Bhadrikapuri in Bihar.

Succeeding his father, Sheetalnath became the king of Susima. After a long and successful reign, Sheetalnath left his home and became an ascetic. He attained enlightenment under a Peepal tree on the fourteenth day of the dark half of the month of Paush.

He attained Nirvana at Samet Sikhar on the second day of the dark half of the month of Vaishakh. Sheetalnath had around 81 disciples. Shrivatsa or Wishing Tree is the emblem of Lord Sheetalnath.
