Shawwal, meaning uplift or breakage, is the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the first of the three months of Hajj, named as ‘Ashhur al-Hajj’.
Id-ul-Fitar falls on the first day of the new moon of this month. The six fasts of Shawwal is also observed in the month of Shawwal.
