Shasthi is a religious fast held in honor of
Lord Muruga, the son of
Lord Shiva. The fast is broken in the evening after performing the
puja to the god. Shasthi is usually observed by those who suffer from diseases. There are elaborate rules for the observances of the Shasthi fast.
