Sawan




Sawan is the name given to a group of songs performed during the rainy season. Closely related to seasonal music, these songs are traditional collections of art musicians. Sawan is different from Kajri. The pain of separation among lovers is the theme involved in these songs. Ragas including Malhar and Desh and Ardatalas such as Keharawa and Dadra are used to sing Sawan. Sawan Hindola is a form of Sawan which is sung, sitting a swing.
