Sargam Geet

Sargam, also known as Swararth, is a vocal art music form in Hindustani Classical Music. The composition involves only the names of the notes in a particular Tala and Raga without using words. This form is termed as 'Swaravarta' in books on Sitar of the 19^th century, as it was used by Sitar players. Later the name is converted to Sargam Geet and again as Sargam, which is sung along with Khayal performances.
