Sarattai Vadyam

Sarattai vadyam is a musical instrument made with half-coconut shell. The word 'Sarattai' means coconut shell. The shell surface of Saratti is smoothened and is used as the musical instrument.

The player covers the hollow part of the shell with his left palm and strikes the other face of the shell with two metallic rings worn on his fingers. Sarattai vadyam usually accompanies folk music.
