Saram Cha'A Festival




Saram Cha’A, a festival of thanksgiving is celebrated by the Attongs, an important division of Garo tribes, in Meghalaya. This post-harvest festival is held after the harvesting period in the month of September or October.

All the people from the nearby villages gather during the festival. Every family put up a Sambasia or split bamboo table or flat block for sacrifice in the yard. A song is sung by the priest of the village. He offers chicken, an egg, boiled rice, curry packed in banana leaf and rice beer to the deity.
