Sapota is a tropical fruit crop that requires warm and moist weather. Flowers generally appear in several flushes at short intervals all through the year. Fruits will mature in about four months after flowering. The fruits should not be allowed to ripen in the tree, and they have to be plucked when they are full-grown.
Andhra Pradesh is famous for Sapota. Propagation is by approach grafting or veneer grafting on Pala rootstock.
