Santan Saptami

Santan Saptami is an auspicious day that falls on the seventh day of the new moon of Bhadra (August - September). Women observe fast on this day for the health and prosperity of their children. Meditation and prayers also form part of the fast. On this day, those who desire children supplicate their respective deities to be blessed with a child. Offerings such as seven types of sweat meats, betel, betel nut and turmeric are made to God. Women give ornaments to their mothers-in-law and get their blessings.
