Sane Guruji

Marathi writer



A famous novelist and freedom fighter, Sane Guruji (1899-1950) has gifted several significant works to Marathi literature. His contribution to children's literature is remarkable. God Shevat and Shyamchi Aai are his principal novels. God Shevat is an abridgement of world classics such as Hugo's Les Miserables and Goethe's Faust. Guruji is also credited with the translation of Tolstoy's book 'What is Art?' into Marathi.
