Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary




Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Sangli District of Maharashtra. A man made sanctuary, Sagareshwar is an artificially cultivated forest without perennial supply of water.

It extends over 10 sq km of southern dry mixed deciduous and southern thorn forests. Major animals found here are sambar deer, black bucks, barking deer, wild boar, peacocks, chital, hyena, fox and porcupines. Besides, a large number of insects, birds and reptiles such as snakes and pythons are found in the sanctuary.

August to February is ideal to visit the sanctuary. Krishna Valley Wine Park is only 2 km from the sanctuary. Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary is also located nearby.

Karad Railway Station is the nearest railhead, about 40 km away.
