Ruddy Kingfisher (Halcyon coromanda) is a rare medium sized (26 cm) forest kingfisher. It is clearly identifiable with a large coral-red bill, rufous-orange underparts and a bright violet gloss. The underparts are pale rufous. During flight a bluish-white rump can be seen.
The bird is found in dense evergreen broad-leafed forests of the Eastern Himalayas from Central Nepal till Arunachal Pradesh.
