Rishabha Vahana




Rishabha Vahana is one of the numerous mounts on which the temple deities are seated to be taken in a procession during a grand festival. Each of these mounts represents some of the finer aspects related with the deities.

Rishabha, meaning bull in Sanskrit, is a symbol of bravery and strength. According to Hindu mythology Rishabha is the mount of Lord Shiva. This bull is actually an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Rishabha Vahana meant for the temple deities are usually of large size, built from silver and heavily embellished.
