Ring Necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) is a chunky, round winged, ground dwelling bird. The tail is long and pointed. It has a small head and thin neck.
The male has a red eye patch, a brilliant green head and a white neck ring. Female is characterized by buffy brown head and underparts, dark brown back with paler edgings and centers.
The pheasant prefers farmlands, pastures and grassy woodland edges. The nest is usually built in a grass-lined depression hidden in dense grass or weeds. Diet consist of weed seeds and waste grains, buds, leaves, acorns, insects, wild fruits and berries.
